We call her Hazel. Beautiful and friendly, she is also well-started in harness. Hazel was leased to a 4H'er for the summer of 2011. When she returned home in August, we bred her to "Rebel", our sorrel pinto stallion, for a summer of 2012 foal.

We call her "Silver." Sweet silver dapple mare that's ready to go in any direction you want to take her. She has Komokos and Lucky Four in her pedigree. Tiny, pretty little girl!

Events

When I purchase broodmares for our farm, of course health and conformation are paramount, but beyond that the next things I look for are temperament and size. Many of our foals are sold to families who want them for companions for themselves or their children and grandchildren, so I want my horses to be very people-friendly.

I also prefer mares that are small. To me part of the charm of the miniature is the very petite size. None of our mares is taller than 32”, with the exception of “Frosty” who is 34” and can be ridden by small children. More about that later!

I don’t place as much emphasis on pedigrees in our mares because our stallions can contribute the desirable bloodlines to our foals. Even so, some of our mares do carry the most recognizable names in the business.
